Wow. Life can be a rollercoaster. I’m pretty sure the first person ever to use that analogy.
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, and no, its not because I’ve fallen off the wagon. Proud to say I’m officially half way to 100 with Sarah Bush Lincoln’s HMR Weight Management!
But when things are going well, life has a way of bringing you back to earth.
It started a few weeks back, when my uncle died very unexpectedly. While not officially related to me, Mike was one of our closest family members. We spent holidays at his house, I worked for him for a time, and he was always willing to help out in any way he could.
Why is it that food is the number one think people want to provide during a time like that? Well safe to say I was white-knuckling the whole diet thing that week.
On less morbid terms, the week afterwards was a great opportunity that didn’t help with this whole HMR thing. I got a new opportunity at work, and that led to me heading to St. Louis for a conference.
I had a great time, learned a lot, and unfortunately couldn’t diet.
But I’m still proud of what I did. At every opportunity I didn’t throw it all away.
- Dinner: Salad

- Lunch: Sandwich (first bread in 3 months!)
- Dinner: Chickpea Burger (second bread in 3 months, but did you know chickpea burger was a thing?)
- Breakfast: Fruit

Just a few months ago, if you would have added up all those calories from the three days, I would have eaten them all in one day. Do you know how hard it was to pass up all the burgers at the amazing Bailey’s Range? Ugh. Oh, and before this I never would have gotten out of bed at 6am to walk? Well I did.
I went to class and ended up losing a pound. And that was almost as big of a surprise as losing 50 pounds in 9.5 weeks. Because after that whole ordeal, I worked the program, and it paid off.
